I first met Hailey when I was at a friend’s engagement party. Happily drinking a few beers at the Hundred Acre Bar in St Lucia, I could hear but not see someone performing a live acoustic set with a few covers thrown in amongst the mix. I remember being blown away by her take on Crazy by Gnarls Barkley and I had to see whoever was singing. I popped up to the top bar and they Hailey is perched on a high chair belting out all the big notes effortlessly. She had the complete attention of the party she was playing to. Probably another engagement party but I didn’t care, I was right in the middle of the tables until she finished the song. Once she finished I clapped & carried on (thank you James Squire) and decided that it was an excellent time to ask her if I could shoot her next gig. We’ve stayed in contact ever since.
If you haven’t heard this girl sing, check her out. I still can’t believe that voice comes out of her. She sings her heart out, plays guitar and as you’ll see, looks good while doing it. The triple threat!
Otherwise, Like her on Facebook to find out when she’s playing in your hood!
On with the photos! Again, another Brisbane live music venue with minimal available light. One angle was around ISO4000 and the other ISO6400, not ideal for great images but hey, work with what you’ve got. I hope you enjoy them.
